Integrated Home Automation
Integrated Home Living (IHA) is flexible enough to include all or any of the following:
Lighting, audio, home cinema, climate control, blinds, appliances and security. It is about integrating smart technology into everyday life with the result that the home environment becomes your pleasant, personalized space.
Discussing your plans as early as the design stage is key to a great result when building a new or renovating an existing home. Our projects aren’t about just winning a tender for a house, but creating a home and an on-going relationship with the owners to ensure they are well-placed to consider utilizing the continual exponential growth of technology in the family home.
We aim to future-proof and grow the operation of automation in the home without any limitations after the home is built.
2020 Update:
New Construction – Integrated Multi-Room Audio and Video with access control.
The Journey
A dream to build a multi-level house without technology limitations and access to any Audio and Visual content from any room can appear to be an impossible task with the consumer-grade items available to anyone off the shelf. This is where we were able to work early in the construction timeline with the Home Owner, Builder, Architect and Designer. The home required speakers and TV’s in almost every area, with the ability to have all areas visually in sync as well as audibly. Wifi throughout the internal of the home as well as in each outdoor area and backyard were a requirement also.
Integrated Services
The home had the following systems:
- 8 zones of Audio ( Recessed in-ceiling colour coded to match ceiling and Home Cinema 7.2.4)
- 7 zones of Video (Televisions and Projector)
- Security System
- Access Control & Intercom
- Dedicated Room with ventilation for electronic equipment
- Electronic lift mechanisms for TV’s to motorise up and down
Being able to install all of these products to seamlessly work in each area independently and altogether was the largest part of turning this High–Quality House into a Home.
Each ceiling speaker had its grilles colour coded to suit the paint colour to allow for the aesthetics of the room to not be distracted by the speaker installation.
The media devices were installed in a dedicated room to house all the electronic equipment. This meant all video devices had the potential to be used independently in each area of the home, or even distributed throughout the whole home for an entertainment scene. The crucial component of this design was to ensure each of the screens and speakers were in sync with each other for when the entertainment scene was used. If this isn’t done correctly various issues alike echoing and lipsync would occur.
Making sure that there was sufficient coverage of wifi throughout the Home was crucial for the operation of mobile devices and portable touch screens to select and control the AV equipment. This meant you could adjust the volume and tracks whilst in the pool, and also talk to a guest at the Front Door, to allow entry via the intercom system.
The Team
With Houses architecturally built like this one, we had to ensure the method and cable types we had installed were going to cope with the advances in technology over the years to come. This ensures that the Home grows with the advances in technology, rather than just being an outdated house with a limitation on the infrastructure.
Being able to work with the Builder and all trades involved from the beginning ensured the final installation of every trades product’s were all matching and symmetrically in-line with each other. Being able to have the speakers, lights and air conditioning outlets all line up make a big difference in the final touches of the home. This is what we call the Gold Class difference, ensuring the highest of quality is applied from the design, installation and the final appearance which the owner gets to experience and enjoy seamlessly every day.
