A complex of $3million luxury apartments buried in a decommissioned missile silo (storage tower) in a top secret location near rural Kansas. The silo is designed to offer 5 years of luxurious safe living when civilisation, as we know it, collapses. It incorporates pools, gyms, schools, parks and the ability to grow its own crops. But the really cool feature to this condo is the AV System incorporating the latest technology in security, home theatres, TVs, interactive displays & control integration.
Below are some of the cool features we thought were worth highlighting, you can read the full scope at CEDIA or the official Luxury Survival Condo site. When the creator of a Luxury Survival Condo understands the importance, and necessity, of installing a top of the line theatre, and AV system, within a Survival Condo, to ensure its residents comfort and entertainment needs are being sufficiently met, you have to ask yourself ….how much more relevant is it for us to be enjoying the greatest AV experience we currently can in the comfort of our own home? Can I really survive without my TV? Luckily, no threat to our survival is necessary to make this a reality.
Before Shots
This is what the Condos use to look like – The silos were built by the U.S. military to house nuclear-armed Atlas ICBMs

The schematic shows how the elaborate survivalists’ complex will be designed. The logo looks like a symbol out of the hunger games.

The Condo’s AV System
Movie Theatre
The Luxury Survival Condo community includes a 17-seat movie theater with surround sound designed by CEDIA Members, Logic Integration of Colorado. Featuring a 1080p LED projector, Stewart Filmscreen, Kaleidescape movie player and Cinematech theater seats. Just two floors up you’ll find a library and a classroom.

Integration
It was an approximately $1 million AV project for Logic Integration, including Digital Media distribution with in-unit iPad integration to every room… Very Impressive!!

Bedroom
What looks like windows or wallpaintings in each room are actually video displays designed to stream views of whatever is going on outside. Daily Mail interviewed Tommy Nix, a project manager with Logic Integration, who helped build the system. He said: ‘We programmed the lighting control system to simulate window light – if you want to, you can wake up with the sunrise, just by leaving your virtual window on overnight… it takes away the sense of being closed in.’

Living Area
The screens that fringe the TV are also “virtual windows” which allow below-ground residents to choose a view or tap into an above-ground video feed. Featuring Large wall mounted TV and wall mounted sound bar underneath all controllable using the iPad control integration system.

Kitchen
The common areas each have unique functionality supporting entertainment, communications, security, infrastructure, and survival. Technology has been incorporated into each of these spaces to deliver a reliable experience for control and integration.

Security
Protection is the major concern for residents, so security is tight. The entrance is sealed with reinforced doors and guards with military training stand by. A control center tapping into exterior and interior cameras monitoring live time on several screens has also been set up. There is a jail just in case a resident becomes uncontrollable. The designers’ objective was to provide emergency alerts on most video displays including iPads and common area screens. Alerts are assigned to green, yellow and red levels.

School Room
The silo features an interactive classroom with 27″ wall-mounted iMacs at each students desk. At the instruction station there is a 70-inch Interactive TV and whiteboards. Surprisingly internet access is available in the shelters.
