Well with Dolby Atmos you can.

Dolby Laboratories want to scare the life out of you using their latest surround sound technology Dolby Atmos.
You may be familiar with the standard surround sound formats – 5.1 or 7.1. Well Dolby Atmos is not just adding extra speakers to a room, it adds a whole extra dimension of audio formats based on audio objects. This is achieved by adding speakers above the listener Eg. 7.1.6 (6 ceiling speakers) or 5.1.4 (x4 ceiling speakers). Gareth Edwards, Director of Godzilla, summed it up perfectly “It is basically a hemisphere wrapped all around the audience & because of that, we can create a much more immersive environment.”
Dolby Labortories explains that up to now, cinema sound designers have had to mix independent sounds together into channels for soundtrack creation. If a scene required, say, a helicopter taking off, that sound had to be assigned to an individual channel and mixed together with other sounds. While that helicopter could move across channels, it couldn’t go above you. You wouldn’t hear it as you would in real life. With Dolby Atmos, Sounds move in three-dimensional space—flowing above and around you in step with the visuals to bring a new sense of height and reality. Dolby Atmos puts you in the middle of the action—in ways you have never before experienced.
Village Crown Cinemas are the first cinemas in Australia to implement Dolby Atmos, to help with this they appointed Krix Loudspeakers to be their Dolby Atmos loudspeaker supplier and consultant (http://www.krix.com.au/blog/The-raging-3D-audio-format-war/). We recently got to test a range of Krix speakers and if you want the true in home cinema experience for Dolby Atmos, Krix speakers would be our first recommendation. They are Australian made and well priced.
When it comes to HD Movies and Gaming what you hear is every bit as important as what you see. If you want the ultimate cinema experience in your home, we recommend a Krix Atmos Speaker Package(Starting from $3999) paired up with an Integra Atmos Receiver (Starting from $1295).
There are certainly cheaper packages available, but we thought if you want the true experience of Dolby Atmos in your home go organic – we recommend using what the cinemas use. Krix are used in cinemas world wide and there is a reason for it. If you are serious about Dolby Atmos and want it in your home, talk to us about a personalised package to suit your home.
